“I—I—I have not Mme. Forester’s diamond necklace!”
He looked at her and said, “Stop lying!”
“Why would I lie? Do you see the necklace on my neck?”
“No.”
“Ok then. Now what are we going to do?” she said with an attitude.
“I’m not doing anything; you’re on your own on this one. Sorry, but that necklace probably cost more than our house.”
“Whatever! It’s your fault we had to go to that party anyway. You had me going there knowing nothing I wore was going to be mine. Now we have to pay for this expensive necklace. So, you’re going to put some type of money in.”
Raising his voice he said, “You better tell that lady that her necklace is gone! We don’t have any money to buy a new one or anything, so get to calling!”
“Better yet, I’m just gone go over her house and tell her to her face, because I wouldn’t want to get any news like this over the phone.”
M. Loisel put on his coat saying, “give me the keys; let’s go.”
Both M. & Mme. Loisel got in the car. As they drive to Mme. Forester’s house to give her the breaking news about her expensive diamond necklace, Mme. Loisel gets nervous. She starts to bite her nails and tap her feet as if she were scared. She didn’t know how Mme. Forester would react about her necklace. “Will she be upset? Will she sue me? Will she even mind?” Mme. Loisel said frantically.
Fifteen minutes later they arrived at Mme. Forester’s house. Though Mme. Loisel was scared, she walked up to the door and rang the door bell bravely. At first Mme. Forester didn’t acknowledge the sound of the doorbell at all. “Thank god! She’s not even here!” Mme. Loisel said happily.
“Oh, I’m sorry!” Mme. Loisel answered the door. “I was in the shower; I didn’t hear the doorbell at all. Please come in.” M. & Mme Loisel walked into the house. Looking around, they noticed that Mme. Forester was the only person there.
“Where’s your husband?” M. Loisel asked.
“Oh! He’s not here. Is that why you all came over, because he won’t be back until later on tonight?”
“Actually, that’s not why we came over. My wife has something to tell you. Honey, tell her what you need to tell her.”
Hesitantly, Mme. Loisel said, “I’m just going to go ahead and say it. I lost you’re necklace!”
With a shocking look, Mme. Forester said, “Oh! Really? You know what? You got me so messed up, that you think you are going to get away without giving me the money for a new necklace or buying me a new one. No, I don’t think so!”
“Mme. Forester, we don’t have the funds for neither one of those options!”
“No, honey! We are about to fight!”
Quickly getting up, Mme. Forester punched Mme. Loisel right in the face. Unfortunately, Mme. Loisel did not know how to fight. She got up and felt the blood dripping down her face. Mme. Forester then punched her in the stomach. Mme. Losiel started coughing blood. “Oh my god! Honey, are you okay?” M. Loisel asked loudly.
“NO! Call the police!” Mme. Loisel said, barely breathing.
“I’ll call but I’m not getting in the fight. This is girl on girl, and I am a man.”
The police arrived ten minutes later. M. Loisel opened the door. There was no fight for the police to break up. Mme. Loisel was un-conscious. Mme. Forester was sitting on the couch drinking a glass of lemonade. Mme. Loisel’s trifling husband was sitting there day dreaming. “Stand up and put your hands over your head.” the policeman said to the only two people in good condition.” “We need an ambulance at 2010 Cranberry St...”
“Sir, is my wife going to be okay?”
“Shut up! You weren’t thinking that when she was getting beat! You’re nothing but a sissy.” The police said.
“Sir…”
“Just get in the back of the car!” Both M. Loisel & Mme. Forester went to jail for attempt of murder. Mme. Loisel remained un-conscious until she took her last breath.
