2000
I could never forget it! I was in the 1st grade attending Scenic Hills Elementary at 3450 Scenic Highway in Raleigh. Our principal was Charlesetta Brown. They placed certain –smarter- students in a class separated from others and just so happen to be one of those students. Our teacher name was Ms. Broom. She’s a nice old lady and a great teacher. At that age, I didn’t know what a best friend was; I was cool with everyone in my class. There was no actual fad because everything was cool to us. My favorite movie for that year was the entire “The Air Bud Collection”. The most popular song probably was the Barney theme song. Sometimes I wish I was young again.
2001
I was in the second grade in 2001. I was still attending Scenic Hills Elementary School. I don’t remember my teacher name. But she was an old Caucasian lady, kind of tall, sometimes mean, but always willing. She gave a lot of work also. My best friend name was Marvin. We had been friends since kindergarten. We were always together. There was no current fad at all. Well, at least we weren’t thinking of one. My favorite movie for that year was Spy Kids. It was the best! The most popular song was Survivor by Destiny’s Child. I still listen to that today. What I remember about that year is that my best cousin/best friend , Shamiria, swallowed her ear ring. Oh my god! I miss her!

2002
The year of 2002, I was in the third grade. I don’t remember my teacher name. I do not remember my teacher at Scenic Hills Elementary School. I remember my principle, Mrs. Brown. My best friend was my cousin Shamyria. My favorite movie of that year was Agent Cody Banks. It was like a Disney Movie. There was no current fad at all! We were young and just living life. The most popular song was Hot in Here by Nelly. What I remember most about that year was the good lunch cookies we had and the time I spent with everybody.
2003
2003! Wow! That was fourth grade. I don’t remember my teacher name. She was a bright fat lady. She was nice. Phylicia was in my class that year. My best friend was Marvin still. He made me mad one time because he told the teacher I called him a prostitute. I didn’t even know what a prostitute was. I got a whopping’ from my mother that night and got sent to the office at school. That is what I remember most about that year. My favorite movie of that year was Bad Boys 2. The song of that year for me was Crazy In Love by Beyonce. Again there was no current fad.
2004
2004 was my 5th grade school year. I was attending my last year at Scenic Hill Elementary School. My homeroom teacher was Ms. Crosby. But of course we were just starting to pass classes so I also had other teacher. Unfortunately, the only other one I remember was Ms. Sims. She worked there for years and she taught my mother and all my uncles and cousins. I graduated that year with my big cousin, T. I was so excited. The movie if the year was Johnson Family Vacation. The song of the year was Roses by Outkast. The only friend I remember is Alesha. That’s about it.
2005
My 6th grade year was 2005. It was my first and last year at Raleigh Egypt High School. I was so happy to go there because my entire family went there as well. My homeroom teacher was Ms. Lacey. She knew my other so I couldn’t be bad on her class. She was nice too. My best friend was Paris and some other girl but I don’t remember her name. My favorite movie for that year Diary of A Mad Black Woman. The song for that year was Pon de Replay by Rihanna. There was no current fad for me at all.
2006
My 2nd year in high school, my first year at Memphis Academy of Science & Engineering, the start of a new beginning. Here goes 7th grade. I didn’t know anyone! I was lost! My homeroom teacher was Mr. Moore. The current fad for me was anything that was tweety bird. My best friends were Katarushae and LaTerrika. I love those chicks! They made my day every day. My favorite movie for that year was Click. The most popular song for that year was Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani! B-A-N-A-N-A-S! It’s still in my head! 7th grade was fun as ever!
2007
My 8th grade year was the best! That’s when I started really liking boys. My homeroom teacher was Mrs. Johnson. I liked this boy in that class bout I was too shy to tell him. His name is ******. Although we are really cool now and talk all the time. My best friend and cousin was Aekeyla. We had our own “insider” it was Gmail= gay mail. Yes! I know, it’s not really funny anymore, but we’ll still laugh. My favorite movie of that year was Daddy’s Little Girl’s. The song of the year was Umbrella by Rihanna. Everybody sang that song. I don’t remember the current fad. I would wish to be in 8th grade again any day.
2008
This year was supposed to be my first year in high school. Unfortunately, M.A.S.E. wanted to be different and make “Ninth Grade Academy”. That kind of really pissed me off. I was a ninth grader and only saw other ninth graders. I mean, I wanted to see tenth and eleventh graders too. We didn’t have a homeroom teacher. We just stayed at the M.A.M gym in the morning. Then we always had to walk back to the school and stay on one floor the entire day. Anyway, the movie for this year was Cloverfield. The popular song was Good Good by Ashanti. There was no current fad that I knew about.
2009
This is my tenth grade year. Boys were the only thing on my mind. I didn’t care for school work or anything else. My best friend was mainly Aekeyla. She would roll with me through whatever. That’s my ride or die “bestie” right there. The movie of that year had to be Notorious. The most popular song is Day N’ Nite by Kid Cudi. That joint was too bumpin’. The current fad was polo’s, jordan’s and forces. If you didn’t have any then you was lame. But of course at our school we had to wear church shoes. Oh well! Kids didn’t care to much for the rules anyway.

2010
Last but not least, the start of something new! 2010 is here! I’m passing to the 12th grade. I’m almost grown. I’m getting a car. I’m still with my “bestie” Alicia and Aekeyla. I still attend M.A.S.E. School almost out but for the last few weeks my homeroom teacher is Ms. Cherry. The only movie I know that came out so far is The Tooth Fairy. The most popular song so far is Rumors by Wacka Flocka. The current fad is Jordan’s, Don ed hardy, Coogi, Coach, Gucci, Bebe, or anything else that some people can’t afford. The motto now is “Money over everything”. Like Trina said, “That’s my attitude!” This just the beginning of the year! It haven’t really started yet!
